Warning light for tyre failure comes on intermittently. How bad is this? What needs to be done?

This one (ISO K10). Volkswagen Beetle.

TPMS sensors (tire pressure monitoring system) are such a pain in the a$$ and now, they’re federally mandated, so you can’t get rid of ‘em. That annoying light will come on if you have too little or too much pressure in any of your tires. Keep in mind that outside air temperature will effect your tire pressure, so if your light is on in the morning after sitting all night, your light may come on but it’ll go off by the afternoon. If your TPMS light is on, check the pressures in your tires and make sure that they are each set at your vehicle’s specs. You can find the specs in your drivers door jamb (don’t use the specs given on the tire). Your Beetle prob’ly requires about 29 or 30 psi all around. It’s safe to set your tires at 31 or 32. Once the psi is set in your tires, the light should go off once you start driving again but you may have to wait until you get it up to around 35 mph and drive for a few miles.
If the light still doesn’t go off, the pressures are accurate, there’s no foreign object damage it may be the TPMS itself which sometimes happens, so take it to a dealership. This should be covered under warranty.
