What is the difference between a cheap oil filter and expensive?
I went to an auto parts store and bought an oil filter for my oil change and if you asked a good guy or a good market. I said the cheap. The man looked at me as if I was mad. Are there real differences? Is this guy just trying to sell to me? Not sure if this is relevant, but I think not the car for racing or high performance stuff. I drive mostly highway to work and maybe 30 minutes in one direction and in the city.
There is only one device as "good" oil filters, in my opinion, and that's good for your engine developed by the manufacturer your vehicle. I agree that a company like Wix and others could produce an oil filter and specifications Superior Performance than the OEM brand (such as Ford Motorcraft), but you're ready to take the risk? There is more than an oil filter met the eye. What brand oil filter would be a Ford dealer in your Ford engine guaranteed want to see? Fram? Quick lube brand? Oil of Joe filter? It's a cheap insurance for your auto warranty backed by manufacturer's parts brand, at least during the warranty period.
